Thor Hmielewski is a licensed Florida real estate agent, lifelong Floridian, U.S. Marine combat veteran, and former diplomatic security professional whose approach to real estate is rooted in leadership, service, and straightforward advice.
Before entering real estate, Thor served in the United States Marine Corps and later spent years overseas leading diplomatic protection teams in Iraq. Those experiences shaped the way he approaches his work today: understand the situation, identify the risks, communicate clearly, and always put the people he represents first.
Long before becoming licensed in 2021, Thor developed a firsthand understanding of the Southwest Florida real estate market by purchasing, managing, and investing in properties of his own. That experience ultimately led him to real estate professionally and continues to shape his primary goal as an agent—helping clients make well-informed decisions.
Whether working with first-time homebuyers, sellers, builders, investors, or market speculators, Thor believes his responsibility goes beyond simply getting a transaction to the closing table. He wants his clients to understand what they are buying or selling, where the potential risks and opportunities exist, and whether the numbers actually make sense. If walking away from a transaction is ultimately in a client's best interest, he will gladly recommend doing so.
In an industry where transparency isn't always guaranteed and market conditions can change quickly, Thor believes clients deserve straightforward advice and someone willing to advocate for their interests. Whether buying or selling, his focus is on representing the property well, protecting his client's position, and helping them make decisions that serve their long-term goals.
His experience also extends beyond traditional real estate transactions. Thor serves on his condominium association's board, where he has gained firsthand experience with condo operations, property damage claims, contractors, and major capital projects, including overseeing approximately $500,000 in building renovations. That experience has given him an additional perspective on the issues that can exist beyond the four walls of a property and the importance of understanding exactly what a buyer is purchasing into.
Outside of real estate, Thor enjoys the Florida lifestyle and supporting the small businesses that give Southwest Florida's communities their character.
Some of his favorite conversations begin with a simple phone call—someone looking for a trustworthy referral, wondering what he thinks about a property they've had their eye on, or simply looking for an informed second opinion before making a decision.
After a career spent advising, leading, and protecting others, Thor finds the same sense of purpose in helping people navigate real estate. Sometimes that means finding the right property or successfully selling a home. Other times, it means helping someone avoid a costly mistake.
If Thor can ever serve as a resource—even if all that's needed is an honest opinion—he'd be honored to take the call.
